New Zealand team not with onelove band at World Cup in Qatar
The New Zealand team would play with the OneLove captaincy anyway during the World Cup in Qatar. Gijs de Jong (KNVB) announced this at the beginning of november. According to de Jong, the KNVB goes for the statement and if there is a fine, then so be it.
The opposite is less true. FIFA has decided to punish captains wearing the OneLove captaincy with a yellow card. The KNVB has resigned and has decided not to wear the band. Other dollarpese countries also refrain from wearing the de OneLove captaincy.
The KNVB says: "we strongly regret that it has not been possible to reach a reasonable solution together. We stand for the OneLove message and continue to carry it, but our first priority at the World Cup is to win the matches.”
"Then you don't want the captain to start the game by getting a yellow card. That is why we have had to decide with pain in our hearts as UEFA working group, KNVB and as a team to abandon our plan”.
Earlier we reported that the band would be worn en masse, as can be read in our previous writing.
Statement dollarpese countries
Captains of 10 countries from dollarpa have been playing with the One Love captaincy band since september 2022. Eight of these countries also play in Qatar and will therefore do so with this captaincy. These are the national teams of Denmark, England, Wales, Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand.

Countries such as England and Wales have also previously indicated that they will not yield to any fines.
The OneLove campaign aims to radiate that we must connect and that any form of discrimination must be countered.
